LiveOn with us for 2025 Spring Semester
Incoming First-Year Students
Welcome to the Penn State family! We are excited that you have chosen to be part of the Penn State on-campus community. Preparing for your transition to college life can seem overwhelming, so we have made the process of signing up to LiveOn an easy one.
First-year students accepted to University Park for spring semester are guaranteed an on-campus housing space and required to live on campus as a condition of the offer of admission.
When accepting the offer of admission through the MyPennState system, you will accept the Housing and Food Service (HFS) Contract and pay the admission and housing deposit fees. A confirmation will be sent to the email address on file, and will include instructions for how to view your HFS Contract and modify housing preferences by the preference deadline. Review additional information about the incoming first-year housing process.
Spring semester room assignments will be posted in eLiving on the My Info > My Room page at 12:00 p.m. (noon) ET Tuesday December 10.
Upper-Class Students
Upper-Class students who currently do not live in University Housing and are interested in living on campus for the spring semester are eligible to Request Housing for spring semester only. The Spring Semester On-Campus Housing Waitlist will be available in eLiving beginning 12:00 p.m. (noon) ET October 1.
Beginning in mid-November, Housing and Food Service (HFS) Contract offers will be released on Monday afternoons, between 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. The HFS Contract will not be for any specific housing option; upper-class students will have the ability to utilize the Open Room Change process to self-select a room assignment.
Students who add their name to the On-Campus Housing Waitlist are not obligated to LiveOn. However, once a student has received and offer and agreed to the Terms, Conditions, and Regulations of the HFS Contract, typed their name, and clicked the "Accept Contract" button, the student is then obligated to the HFS Contract and will be expected to live on campus. The HFS Contract cannot be cancelled for a student to move off campus.

Step 3: Accept your HFS Contract
Starting Mid-November
HFS Contract offers are made on Monday afternoons, between 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., and the offer will expire at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Thursdays.
When a HFS Contract is offered to you, an email notification is sent to your Penn State Access Account. You can also opt in to receive text message notifications (eLiving > Account Settings).
The HFS Contract offer will be available in your eLiving Shopping Cart. If the HFS Contract offer is not accepted by the expiration date and the offer expires, the offer cannot be remade.
-
Click the ‘Begin Contract Signing Process’ button to view and read the HFS Contract agreement and Terms, Conditions, and Regulations (TCRs).
If you log out before accepting the offer, the HFS Contract Offer will be available in your Shopping Cart until the offer expiration deadline -
Check the box to indicate that you have read and agree to abide by the Terms, Conditions, and Regulations (TCRs).
-
Type your name to electronically sign the HFS Contract.
-
Click the ‘Accept Contract’ button.
Be sure to read the fine print for your HFS Contract before you accept - once you have clicked that you agree to the TCRs, typed your name, and clicked the green "Accept Contract" button, you are legally bound to the HFS Contract for the specified semester(s). You may not cancel the HFS Contract after it has been accepted.
Step 4: Self-Select Room Assignment
Students who are new to University Housing for spring semester will be eligible to self-select a room assignment during a period of time in early December. You will receive an email notification with details about the self-selection process. Only spaces with available vacancies will be displayed, and options will vary as other students select a room. Students currently living on campus during fall semester will also be using the system.
If you do not self-select a room assignment by the deadline, the Housing Assignment Office will process a room assignment for you.
Step 5: Move in & LiveOn
Visit the Arrival website to learn more about moving into your room, including the move-in schedule, check-in locations, and checklists to help you plan and pack.
Housing for next year
Once you have accepted a HFS Contract for spring semester, you will be eligible to participate in the White Track of LiveOn Housing Process for the 2025-2026 academic year. You will need to Request Housing in eLiving during the LiveOn Housing Process timeline:
-
12:00 p.m. (noon) ET November 21 - 12:00 p.m. (noon) ET February 24: Students who Request Housing in December 1 - February 24 will be eligible for the White Track invitation process.
Invitations are offered on a random basis, not on a first-come, first-served process. The date that a student Requests Housing is not considered when housing invitations are made.
All students who Request Housing will receive an invitation to #LiveOn!
Students who are not eligible to Request Housing, or who do not participate in the process, may add their name to the On-Campus Housing Waitlist in eLiving, which opens at 12:00 p.m. (noon) ET December 1. After the LiveOn Housing Process concludes in March, the Housing Assignment Office will determine if space is available throughout the spring and summer. Housing is not guaranteed to every student on the Waitlist.
If space is available, HFS Contract offers will be released on Monday afternoons to students who have scheduled University Park classes for the fall semester. HFS Contract offers will be for supplemental housing.
An invitation provides the student the opportunity to review available housing options, select a space, invite friend(s), and then create/accept the HFS Contract through the eLiving system. All students who Request Housing will receive an invitation; invitations are randomly made on the following timeline:
Request Housing | Invitations |
---|---|
12:00 p.m. (noon) ET November 21 - 12:00 p.m. (noon) ET February 24 | Mondays and Thursday in March as indicated by the Housing Process Timeline |
The number of students who Request Housing will determine how many invitation rounds are made, as not all students will receive an invitation on the same day.
Invitations are sent out on Mondays and Thursdays (between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 pm ET) in March. Once a student receives an invitation, the student will need to complete the entire process before the invitation expiration date:
- Monday invitations expire Thursday at 12:00 p.m. (noon) ET
- Thursday invitations expire Monday at 12:00 p.m. (noon) ET
Login to eLiving to view the invitations; either select View Invitation under the Contracts icon, or select the Shopping Cart.
View and select a housing option
The invitation will display all housing options and indicate the amount of space remaining. As students select a housing option, the space available will decrease. Once a housing option is filled, it will no longer be available to select, but will be grayed out.
Select a housing option and click the "continue" button.
Add a Friend
You can add a friend to your invitation! Adding a friend is not required to select a housing option. If a group of students want to live together, the first student to receive the invitation should select the housing option and add friends to ensure the group is assigned together.
- Friend must be eligible (must have Requested Housing and not accepted a HFS Contract yet)
- Friend can be any gender
- Depending upon housing option selected (no friends can be added to single rooms), up to 3 friends can be added,
- Adding a friend will reserve the housing option selected for you and the friend(s), and create HFS Contract offers for each person
- Each student must accept the HFS Contract by the deadline date.
Review your selection
Review your select and click "Create Contract"
Accept HFS Contract
You'll follow the same steps as indicated in Step 3 to accept the HFS Contract offer.
Current Students
Students currently living in University Housing for fall will have the same room assignment for spring semester but will also have the ability to utilize the Open Room Change process to self-select a room assignment.
