Panofsky Hall
Panofsky Hall, part of the Eastview Terrace complex, was built in 2004. Each student has a single room with a private bath, and each floor is clustered into houses made up of 8 to 22 student rooms. A study/social space and laundry facility is located in each house. Brill Hall, located off McKean Road, offers a meeting room, conference room, vending, and kitchen open to all residents of Eastview Terrace.
Panofsky Hall is named after Hans A. Panofsky. Panofsky was an Atmospheric Scientist and a Penn State Meteorology Professor for over 30 years. He is credited with advances in the study of meteorology, and was one of the first to study the structure of the lowest 300ft of atmosphere to understand how pollutants are controlled. Panofsky developed theories of wind flow, and contributed to the understanding of air turbulence that can lead to airplane crashes. He also lead the way in applying computer analysis to weather forecasting.
